Expert in project management and coordination

The candidate, as a project manager, will be in charge of organize a significant volunteering event for Brussels-based Commission staff to promote staff volunteering in local communities. The candidate shall contact a large number of NGOs and stakeholders to request for volunteering places/activities; The candidate will ensure that there is a sufficient number of opportunities for every participant to be actively engaged in a practical and productive volunteering activity; and that the event brings clear benefits to the participating voluntary sector organizations, to their local projects and to the end beneficiaries.


The project manager will work with a team of 4 people. (1 Project Manager Assistant,  1 IT Manager, 1 IT Assistant and 1 secretary)


The candidate is required to provide 1000 half-day volunteering places1 meeting the specifications set out below.




  • Developing cooperation/partnership with local NGOs 
    and community organizations

  • Planning, organizing and carrying activities in cooperation with
    NGOs and social facilities

  • Taking care of a fluent project communications

  • Evaluation of the carried out activities

  • Supervising a online registration platform


Professional experience:

The expert in project management and coordination must have experience of at least 5 years in project management, 2 out of which in the voluntary sector/civil society. The experience in volunteering should include:

- project communications;

- quality control of the service;

- experience of managing small to medium sized teams

Language competence:

The expert in project management and coordination must demonstrate knowledge of English or French (Dutch is a plus) corresponding at least to level C1 as defined by the Common European

Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) of the Council of Europe

- a declaration on the individual’s honour of the language competence.

We offer you an opportunity for internship with a focus on public affairs and communication to provide support for communication activities, including: research, drafting press releases, clients relations, social media communications and event management.

The candidate will be involved in a specific project related to cyber security. 


  • Holder of a university degree in the following - non-exhaustive  -subjects: language, communication, journalism, law, public affairs;

  • Excellent writing, editing, translating and verbal communications skills;

  • Experience in writing Write press release in English. 

  • Good command of French and EXCELLENT LEVEL of ENGLISH, WRITING AND SPEAKING.  (C2+).

  • Good infographic skills;

  • High ability to summarize large amounts of technical information (e.g. policy documentation, research, etc.) into clear and concise communication materials

  • Minimum 1 year relevant work experience

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

  • Passionate about IT, cybersecurity and new technologies.

  • Candidates must be EU nationals or have a valid work permit for Belgium.


  • Support the creation and distribution of press releases;

  • Assist in designing and implementing communication strategies;

  • Provide support in designing and implementing news dissemination plan;

  • Design and implement innovative promotional strategies on journals and social media (challenges, infographics, etc.);

  • Distribute press releases and other press correspondence; update contacts on press release site;

  • Answer phone and performance regular administrative duties



Type of contract: Part time.

Location: Brussels partner office.

Candidate will participate to 3 two-days physical meetings in Brussels, Athens and London.
